Flygility Information

Flygility is a dog sport that encompasses the awesome speed of Flyball and agiliness and accuracy of Agility.  It was designed by New Zealander Ian Gray and after some trials and demonstrations, the first competition was run in 1992 by the National Agility Link Association (NALA) as part of its monthly competition series.  The sport proved popular in New Zealand and the New Zealand Flygility Dog Association (NZFDA) was formed with the inaugural Tournament being held on 8 December 1996 at Long Bay Auckland.  The sport is popular in New Zealand with NALA still running the monthly competitions and the NZFDA running regular tournaments.

Flygility is essentially a team knock-out competition where two teams compete simultaneously over separate courses that are as close to identical as possible.  The best of three runs decides which team proceeds to the next heat.  A team comprises of one dog & handler or 2,3,4 dogs & handlers running in relay.
